I want to give my real-world knowledge and tangible skills to all my students in a relatable way, and foster an environment for them to build cognitive connections that spark an excitement for deep understanding, new ideas, and new ways to approach learning.
With 13 years of experience teaching my own programs that span from the artistic disciplines such as music, photography, and graphic design to core curriculum to the technological, I've developed a diverse palette of teaching styles and methods to engage and inspire students of all ages. This mission guides everything we do, from the curriculum we design to the community we build
I've always been equally passionate with sciences and the arts...which sparked getting a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University and nurturing my passion for music through the PVAMU Marching Storm Band My background as a former IT consultant, entrepreneur, and working artist has shaped a unique approach to education, blending practical skills with creative expression. My passion for music, nurtured over 25 years of playing, resonates in my teaching, fostering an environment where students can explore their talents and interests.
I've worked through several different organizations, including Big Thought, Dallas ISD, Dallas Public Library, but I found a teaching home at 1600 Pennsylvania in the hear of Sunny South Dallas. Since 2016, I've been a part of the St. Philip’s School and Community Center family, where I've had the privilege of working with incredible students and parents. As a graduate of Prairie View A&M University and a father of three, I understand the importance of education not just as a teacher but also as a parent.
Whether you're here to explore courses in Computer Science, Percussion, Film-making, 3D Modeling and Design, Web Design, or Robotics, I'm committed to providing an enriching and enjoyable experience tailored to each student's individual needs.
I look forward to getting to know you and your family, and to partnering with you on this exciting educational adventure!
Best, Menkiti Rice
